If you’re unable to speak after an accident, Ride ID gives someone at the scene a way to access the emergency information you’ve chosen to share—without needing to unlock your phone.

Attached to your motorcycle keys, the tag links to your rider profile through a tap with a compatible NFC-enabled smartphone. A QR code provides an alternative way to open your profile.

How it works

1. Register your rider profile using the supplied setup instructions.
2. Add the emergency details you choose to share.
3. Attach the tag to your keys and keep your information current.
4. Tap with a compatible NFC-enabled smartphone or scan the QR code to open the profile.

Important information

A compatible smartphone and internet connection are required to access the online profile. Information is supplied by the rider and may be viewed by anyone who scans the tag. Ride ID supports access to information; it does not detect accidents, contact emergency services automatically or replace medical assessment.

What is a motorcycle emergency ID tag?

RIDE ID is an NFC and QR emergency key tag for motorcycle riders in South Africa. It links to the emergency details you choose to share, including medical information and an emergency contact.

Can someone view my details without unlocking my phone?

Yes. Someone at the scene can use their own compatible smartphone to tap the NFC tag or scan its QR code. They do not need to unlock your phone.

Does RIDE ID need an internet connection?

Yes. The phone used to open your online rider profile needs internet access. If NFC is unavailable, the QR code provides another way to open the same profile.

Is there a monthly fee for RIDE ID Standard?

No. RIDE ID Standard costs R249 once-off, with no monthly subscription.
